Atlanta was awarded the 10th spot on the list of the fittest cities in the United States.

The American College of Sports Medicine has recently declared Atlanta one of the most physically active cities in the US.

The 2021 American Fitness Index for the team evaluates the 100 most populous cities in the U.S. by taking into account 34 different criteria for healthy behaviors, outcomes, the environment, and more.

The Peach State accumulated a total of 69 out of 100 in funding, placing it 10th on the list for 2021. Additionally, Atlanta scored highly in terms of its residents’ compliance with the aerobic and strength activity guidelines, landing at 7th nationwide.

The purpose of the yearly report, as stated, is to point out the activities that cities are carrying out to “strengthen, condition, and improve the wellness of their citizens.”

Arlington, Virginia was awarded the highest score once again on the index, having taken the top spot for the fourth time in a row. Other cities that had high scores on the list were Minneapolis, Seattle, Denver, Madison, Wisconsin, and the nation’s capital, Washington D.C.

Oklahoma City was placed 98th for its health and wellness and 100th for its area and environment when it came to affordability according to the report.
