According to a recent study by the personal finance website WalletHub, Seattle ranks second among the healthiest cities in the US. This is due to its abundance of healthy eating choices, its outdoor spaces, and its numerous bike trails. As a bustling city, Seattle provides all the necessary components for a healthy lifestyle.

Four main categories were utilized in the study to evaluate the health of the people. The first one focused on healthcare, evaluating the expense of medications and the condition of the public hospital system. The second category was related to food, taking into account the percentage of obesity in correlation with the number of healthy food restaurants.

The third area of research revolved around fitness, investigating the levels of physical activity among adults in the city, as well as the quantity of gyms present. The fourth study focused on parks, assessing the amount and quality of bike paths, running routes, and walking trails in the city.

Seattle had the highest rate of physically active adults compared to any other city in the U.S. It also had the most running trails per citizen, taking the top spot and third spot respectively. This is reinforced by other studies that attest to the healthy lifestyle of residents in Washington.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention discovered that inhabitants of Washington had some of the highest rates of physical activity in the United States and that obesity rates in the state were lower compared to the national norm.

The role of green spaces in Seattle is clear. The Trust for Public Land report demonstrated that Seattle stands fifth in the nation for the amount of money invested per person in municipal parks. Washington, in general, is third in the U.S. for the number of state parks.
